The 4th Annual Lodge at Old Trail Culinary Competition

Any of you who have followed my blog for a while — or who know me well personally — know how much I love cooking shows, especially ones like Chopped!

I’m totally into the tension required to think quickly on your feet after just learning about what ingredients are required and then producing something mind blowing in a very short amount of time while surrounded by others who are doing the same within your field of vision! The whole edge-of-your-seat, nail-biter vibe is such a thrill!

Let’s just hope it feels as good as a contestant as it does as a viewer because I’m stepping into my first Chopped-like local chef throw down!

Cooking up a storm

That’s right, this September 17th, from 6-8pm, you’ll find me at the Lodge at Old Trail in Crozet for the 4th Annual Lodge Culinary Competition. I’ll be cooking my heart out for fun, for a good cause, and maybe even for the Silver Trophy prize!

The annual event in neighboring Western Albemarle County always benefits a local charity, and this time proceeds go to the Western Ablemarle Rescue Squad. (Hey, we should do something like this on our side of the mountain, too!)

As a live charitable event, guests are invited to enjoy the evening, with ticket sales going toward the fundraising.

At the event there’ll be complimentary h’ors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, and cash bar — perfect for your ring side seat at this chef-off!

Come on out

Wouldn’t you like to see me exhibiting what I hope will be tremendous grace under pressure as I whip up a dish in a strange kitchen under incredible time constraints? :)

Well, maybe I need you more than you need me because a little audience support would go a long way— and remember, all for a good cause.

I have tickets on sale at AVA ($20-$25), or if you’re an AVA fan from the Charlottesville side of the world, and won’t be in to the restaurant soon, you can contact The Lodge at Old Trail at 434.823.9100 or rsvp@lodgeatoldtrail.com for tickets.

Otherwise come on by for dinner and to pick up your tickets today!
