Debuting a new menu always brings out my inner teenage girl: “Will they like it [me]?”

“What if it flops?”

Like singing in public, I routinely get a tinge of stage fright when I put a new menu out there. Fortunately, I’ve had few abysmal failures in my life — and only a couple were food related.

This latest menu is far from a failure, which is why I’m so excited about it.

Everything Autumn

Fall is my favorite time of year to eat. Summer’s bounty might be wonderful from the standpoint of a cook, but autumn is for the bountiful eater. Hearty stews full of earthy vegetables, delicious confections made from everyone’s favorite gourd, squash varieties that once you hack through their tough exterior yield an unctuous sweet flesh…I’m getting hungry just thinking of it!

Some folks might go ga-ga over heirloom tomatoes, but for me squash is where it’s at. Hence my new menu celebrating all things fall. I hope you’ll enjoy it (and keep in mind, that we run specials, soups-of-the-day, fresh catches, and an ever-changing beer and wine menu to keep you surprised and delighted, too!) In addition to some long-time favorites that will remain on the menu, here’s a sampling of what’s in store beginning this week:

  • Pumpkin bruschetta with crumbled Gorgonzola.
  • Mushroom and acorn squash risotto.
  • Hearts of palm and shaved butternut squash salad.
  • Ginger mashed sweet potatoes.
  • Brussels sprouts and kale sauté.
  • Butternut squash and kale lasagna with goat cheese and smoked Gouda.
  • Chicken and dumplings.

This menu is comfort food at its finest.

Break out your sweaters, scarves, and fancy boots! When there’s a crispness in the air, there’s a hunger in my belly that can only be filled by more pumpkin!

Hope to see you in the restaurant soon!
